Let’s Leap To Quantum Consciousness

“Concerning matter, we have been all wrong.
What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter.”
“There is no place in this new kind of physics both for the field and matter, for the [Quantum] field is the only reality.”
~ Albert Einstein
“With quantum theory we have to leave behind our naive picture of reality as an intricate clockwork. We are challenged by quantum theory to build new ways in which to picture reality, a physics, moreover, in which consciousness plays a central role, in which the observer is inextricably interwoven in the fabric of reality.”
~ Adam McLean
“Our separation of each other is an optical illusion of consciousness.”
~ Albert Einstein

Ron’s Introduction to Let’s Leap To Quantum Consciousness

The following visionary poem was composed many years ago as I was imagining blessings to be enjoyed when, at long last, with elevated quantum consciousness human societies, institutions and enterprises function democratically, holistically and cooperatively for the benefit of all life everywhere.

Let’s Leap To Quantum Consciousness

Imagine how blessed our lives would be
If everyone could really See

How everything is energy.

So, let’s take a quantum leap:

From particle to wave,
From lost to saved,

From I to Thou,
From then to Now,

From doing to Being,
From having to Seeing,

From ego to Soul,
From part to Whole.

“Let’s Leap To Quantum Consciousness”

Dear Friends,

For millennia mystics have recognized the permanent impermanence of all forms and experiences in our space/time energetic ‘reality’ – an insight now confirmed by quantum physicists.

Quantum science shows us that everything in space/time is energy (e=mc2); that all forms and phenomena are merely vibrating and radiating immaterial energies endlessly and inevitably appearing (from unknown causes and conditions) out of and disappearing into an ineffable matrix of mystery.

A century has passed since Einstein’s revolutionary relativity theory revealed to us that “reality” can’t be reduced to objects or entities in space. Yet culturally we’ve kept acting as if this is so – habitually clinging to a false Newtonian materialistic worldview that sees everyone and everything as discrete and separated by apparently immutable boundaries.

Nonetheless, we are inevitably evolving into the light of creation: from a Newtonian “reality” of polarized duality, to a quantum “reality” of holistic connectedness; from either this or that, to this and that are ONE.

Synchronistically, current unprecedented worldwide dystopian restrictions of civil and human rights, and threats of imminent ecological, biological or nuclear catastrophe jeopardizing earth-life as we’ve known it, also provide to our species (which allowed or caused these dire problems) exceptionally urgent incentives to resolve them forthwith from elevated heart levels of quantum consciousness.

Invocation.

May the above poetic vision help inspire and encourage our evolutionary transformation and realization of open-hearted human societies infused with loving quantum consciousness, blessing and benefiting all life everywhere.

And so shall it be!

Introduction to “Our Mentality is Our Reality”.

This poetic essay describes and explains persistent egoic thought processes by which Humankind mentally conceive, label and self-identify themselves as supposedly separate mortal entities in a misperceived space/time “reality”.
It is shared with the aspiration of helping us recognize and reverse these constant ego/mind processes, which inevitably subject us to karmic-causal sufferings and limitations of our inconceivably infinite potentialities. [See e.g. The Way In, Is The Way Out ]

Our Mentality is Our Reality

Through the ‘mirror of the mind’
we think we see space/time “reality” –

as multiplicity of seemingly separate
beings, objects, forms and phenomena.

But our perceptions and self-identifications
as separate mortal entities is a mere mirage;
“an optical illusion of consciousness” .

What we think see is merely our state of mind
reflected and projected outward.

Such illusory vision is invariably obscured and distorted;
it arises from our personal and cultural mental conditioning – our ego/minds.

Ego/minds distortedly refract, reflect and project

onto the ‘reflective’ screen of human consciousness

the unseen light of Eternal Awareness – our true Self.

As Eternal Awareness, what we really see
are ego-minds’ ever conditioned
misperceptions, reflections, and projections.

As a mirror’s reflection depends not only on its optical transparency and precision
, but also on the angle from which it is viewed,

our perception and response to the space/time world,

depends not only on our state of mind,

but on our unique point of view –
each from a different place in time and space.

As still, clear water best reflects light –

while permitting perception of its depths,

a still, clear mind best reflects and reveals

the invisible Light of Self-awareness.

The fewer our thoughts,
the clearer and calmer our mind,

and the deeper and more transparent our awareness.

The more we think,

the more conditioned, disturbed and perturbed is the mind,

and the more it refracts, distorts and dims the eternal light of pure Awareness.

The clearer and calmer our mind,

the more skillfully we experience

ever changing quantum energies,

without attachment or reflexively reacting to them.

With meditation and other attentive mind-stilling modes,

we can clear and enlighten our mind –

From opacity to translucency to transparency –

from mental mirror to window of the soul.

Thereby, with ever expanding awareness

and ever deepening insight,

We can and shall ‘see’ and be,
more and more –

what we couldn’t see or be
before.

We can and shall see and BE:

Wholeness, Holiness, SELF –
Infinite Potentiality, Awareness, Bliss;
Eternal Peace, Life, Light – LOVE!

And so it shall be!

Ron’s Commentary on Our Mentality as Our Reality.

Dear Friends,

Have you ever wondered why the world seems so crazy?  Why so many people worldwide unnecessarily suffer from wars, poverty, illness, lack of basic life-sustaining necessities?  Why even in the richest nation on Earth, suffering is ubiquitous?  Why even materially super-rich people often become depressed, addicted or mentally disturbed?

For millennia mystic teachers and spiritual scriptures have consistently identified ego/mind as the ‘biggest enemy of humans’. So understanding and eliminating ego has always been of supreme spiritual importance.

But in the current “new normal” coronavirus era of unprecedented worldwide human suffering and turmoil, it is crucial that a “critical mass” of Humankind very soon realize at long last how we are ignorantly and unsustainably creating enormous problems by habitually identifying ourselves with our thoughts.

After my mid-life change of life, I began deeply reflecting on root causes of our pervasive pathologies, individually and societally. In the above essay/poem and quotes, I’ve shared my perspectives about how and why illusionary human perceptions and thoughts are causing extremely psychopathic behaviors which threaten life on earth as we have known it.

If you agree, please consider and share them, to help heal the world.

Conclusion.

In the Bible (1 Corinthians 13:11-12), St. Paul observes that “now we see through a glass darkly”,
but that some day we shall fully know, as we are fully Known now by the Divine.  Now, we view our “reality” through the ‘mirror of the mind’, which imperfectly refracts and reflects the unseen light of Eternal Awareness onto the screen of our human consciousness.

But, with meditation and other mind-stilling methods, we can and shall evolve and transform our mind mirror, from opacity to translucency to transparency (as ‘window of the soul’).  And thereby, with ever expanding human consciousness and ever deepening insight, we can and shall ‘see’ more and more – what we couldn’t see before.

Invocation.

As ever more we inwardly SEE
May we ever more inwardly BE:

Wholeness, Holiness, SELF –
Infinite Potentiality, Awareness, Bliss;
Eternal Peace, Life, Light – LOVE!

And so shall it be!

Sometimes It Hurts To Heal

“Your pain is the medicine by which the
physician within heals thyself.”
~ Kahlil Gibran
“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;

And you would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.

It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquillity: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears.”

~ Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet, Chapter 16

Ron’s Introduction to “Sometimes It Hurts To Heal”

The following poem was inspired by Kahlil Gibran’s masterpiece “The Prophet”, and composed during my extended post-retirement reclusive period of prayer and introspection. It remains consistent with my long-life’s observations and experiences, as I will hereafter explain.

Sometimes It Hurts To Heal

Life is a healing/wholing/gnosis/process.

Sometimes we hurt as we heal;
But our healing pains are growing pains.

And as we are healing,
Life is revealing

Ever vaster vistas

Of  inner light,

LOVE and Peace.

Ron’s Explanation of “Sometimes It Hurts To Heal”:

“Sometimes It Hurts To Heal” was inspired by Kahlil Gibran’s masterpiece, “The Prophet”, especially Gibran’s insight that:

“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”

Decades after its composition, this poem remains consistent with my long-time experience.

Thus, my greatest psychological trauma – a painful divorce – triggered a mid-life spiritual awakening which revealed previously unimagined new insights about self-identity and “reality”, and led to meeting my Guruji on the luckiest day of my life.

Similarly, my greatest physical trauma – a sudden near-death taxicab rundown – began a revelatory evolutionary process which has opened me to unspeakably expanded faith in Divine providence, and to an elevated ‘attitude of gratitude’– with every day a bonus, and every breath a blessing.

Currently, from my perspective, the extraordinary 2020 post–coronavirus era of anxiety, fear and deprivation of normal activities and liberties has become so hurtful and painful for so many people worldwide that it is about to trigger a societal “tipping point” breakthrough to an elevated heart level of human consciousness, which will hasten our imminent transition to a wonderful “new normal” age of love, peace and justice.

Hence, from long-time faith-based experience, I continue to confirm that:

Life is revealing

Ever vaster vistas

Of  inner light,
LOVE and Peace.

May these writings help assuage our anxieties about current crazy times
and inspire our abiding faith in THAT mysterious “physician within”
which wondrously is healing everyone everywhere
of all afflictions, individually and collectively.

Women in Art:
Morphing Madonnas as Metaphor

“Our separation of each other
is an optical illusion of consciousness.”
~ Albert Einstein

Sri Anandamayi Ma

Introduction

The “Women in Art” video (embedded below) sequentially morphs together many images of different unique female beings painted by the greatest Western portrait artists of the past 500 years, with a Bach cello musical background.

Apart from its exceptional artistic beauty and creativity, this award winning video can be deeply experienced as a metaphor for our ever evolving and expanding human consciousness.

From mistakenly seeing everyone and everything as discrete and separated by apparently immutable boundaries, we are gradually realizing that everyone/everything is inseparably connected by our common essence: ever-changing energy in a matrix of immutable Awareness.

Thus, we are evolving into the light of creation: from a Newtonian “reality” of polarized duality, to a quantum “reality” of holistic connectedness; from either this or that, to this and that are ONE.

And so shall it be!

Ron’s 2020 Comment on Women In Art video

Dear Friends,

In recent postings I’ve proclaimed my optimistic faith-based opinion that we are evolving from an illusionary and outmoded Newtonian worldview of seeing everyone and everything as discrete and separated by apparently immutable boundaries, into a quantum-connectedness worldview, which will inevitably uplift human consciousness to resolve current “new normal” crises and threatened catastrophes arising from our outdated beliefs and behaviors.

Despite unprecedented worldwide violence and divisiveness, I have supreme faith that Humankind are destined to transcend our mistaken illusions of separation; that our ultimate destiny is Self-identity as Infinite Awareness – the eternal Light of Divine LOVE.

May the above “Women in Art” video help elevate our consciousness
enabling us to envision and implement peaceful, compassionate, and harmonious solutions to current crises, bringing us an awakened new era of abiding peace, justice and goodwill for all life everywhere.

“Incarnation is limitation.”
~ Ron Rattner, Sutra Sayings
All people are flawed;

none are perfect.

But the most flawed,

~ Ron Rattner, Sutra Sayings

Is Personal Perfection Possible?

Q. Is personal perfection possible?

A. As Ecclesiastes 7:20 aptly observes:

“There are none on Earth so righteous that they never sin.”

Incarnation is limitation – and fallibility.

We’re here to learn and to evolve,
and evolution toward ‘perfection’ implies imperfection.

So, a perfect person’s not possible.

Ron’s explanation and dedication of
“Is Personal Perfection Possible?”

Dear Friends,

The forgoing essay and quotations raise an important philosophical question for our consideration:
“Is Personal Perfection Possible?”.

The idea of “perfection” has different meanings for different people.  But, in our world of relativity and duality “perfection” implies “imperfection”.  You can’t have one without the other. And realizing that all humans are limited or flawed can help us accept others as spiritual siblings – children of the Divine in varying evolutionary stages of opening to the eternal Light of Infinite Awareness.

Upon mistakenly believing ourselves to be mere “mortals” separate from each other and Nature, we become subject to the karmic law of cause and effect.  And we are motivated by inevitable karmic sufferings to evolve beyond our supposed duality; beyond our conceptions of separate perfection or imperfection.  Thus we are advancing toward realization that cosmically we are not separate “persons”, but ONE Eternal Spirit or Infinite Awareness.

But while we remain mentally caught by karmic cause and effect, we can’t ever achieve individual “perfection”.

Soon after my spiritual awakening I enrolled in a ‘new age’ seminar called “est”, founded by Werner Erhard, a charismatic and controversial former salesman who claimed to be sharing an esoteric epiphany he experienced while driving across the Golden Gate Bridge.  As discussed in my  Getting “IT” at est  memoirs chapter, the est training planted significant seeds for my spiritual evolution process by presenting some important and intriguing ideas from perennial wisdom teachings, which were then new to me, and which today remain important – like disidentifying with the “voice in my head” and “accepting the present moment”.

Accepting “what is” NOW in the present moment remains for me a core principle for living a happy life, after over forty years of experience and reflection.  And since 1976 and est, I have repeatedly written about the illusory idea of individual “perfection”, as in the foregoing brief essay/poem and quotations.

In philosophically reflecting and writing on “perfection”, I have concluded from experience that when we empathetically see all humans as imperfect or flawed it helps us experience ever growing happiness.

So this posting is offered to help us identify all humans as spiritual siblings in varying evolutionary stages of opening to the eternal Light of Infinite Awareness – children of the Divine with whom we are ‘fellow travelers’ on the spiritual path to “perfection” beyond incarnation.

And so may it be!

Evolving ‘Out Of The Box’ Into The Light Of Creation

Individually and societally, humankind have been caught in a psychological box, self-created by mistaken perceptions and ego-mind ideas of separation from Nature and each other.

We’ve mistakenly regarded ourselves and others as mere limited entities,
rather than as limitless souls – spirit drops in an infinite ocean of Eternal Light.
And, our worldviews have been mostly based on such unrealistically reductionist ideas of who and what we are.

Thereby, individually we’ve been caught in a mistaken self-identity box;
and societally we’ve been “boxed in” by an outmoded Newtonian pre-quantum worldview. Though quantum science now knows that “reality” can’t be reduced
to objects or entities in space, we’ve kept acting as if this is so.

We’ve thus been self-limited by our mistaken ideas of “reality” and of our true identities, powers and potentialities –
which are infinite, though yet largely unknown and unrealized.

But, spurred by extraordinarily critical inter-personal and planetary crises,
and innately blessed with an intuitive evolutionary impetus in each us,
more and more people are realizing their true spiritual nature
and awakening with compassion from their egoically imagined limitations.

From seeing everyone and everything as discrete and separated by apparently immutable boundaries, we are gradually realizing that everyone/everything is connected by our common essence:
ever-changing energy in a matrix of immutable eternal Awareness.

We are evolving from a Newtonian “reality” of polarized duality
to a quantum “Reality” of holistic connectedness; from either this or that, to this and that are ONE. And so we are beginning to envision, intuit and implement
‘Out Of The Box’ solutions to current crises.

And as we evolve ‘Out Of The Box’ and into the Light of creation,
we shall soon reach a critical-mass tipping point which uplifts human consciousness to transcend and resolve crises arising from outmoded and illusionary egoic beliefs.

And so shall it be!

Ron Rattner

Ron’s commentary on evolving out of the box into the light of creation.

Dear Friends,

While long aware that “no problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it”, I’ve often wondered how individually and societally we can most effectively elevate human consciousness to resolve critical interpersonal and international planetary problems. And I’ve concluded that we need to be ever more loving and compassionate; that our love is ‘contagious’ and will inevitably bless and change the world as it gradually spreads to others, until ultimately we will reach a ‘critical mass’ tipping point triggering new societal worldview solutions to old problems.

So many years ago I optimistically began predicting in the foregoing essay that

“we shall soon reach a critical mass tipping point which uplifts human consciousness to transcend and resolve crises created by outmoded and illusionary beliefs.”

Yet paradoxically – and especially since election of Donald J. Trump as US President – it appears we are now nearer than ever before to ecological or nuclear disaster, potentially portending destruction of Earth life as we have known it. So, more than ever before, we urgently need elevated human worldviews to avert such disaster.

A century has passed since quantum science revealed to us that “reality” can’t be reduced to objects or entities in space/time. Yet we’ve kept acting as if this is so – clinging to a false Newtonian materialistic worldview that sees everyone and everything as discrete and separated by apparently immutable boundaries.

Three generations have passed since immensely destructive nuclear weapons were first developed, atmospherically tested, and savagely used by the American Empire against innocent civilians at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Yet these dreadful weapons have proliferated worldwide and now threaten our precious planet more than ever before. In a May 1946 letter to prominent Americans, Albert Einstein wrote:

“The unleashed power of the atom has changed everything save our modes of thinking, and we thus drift toward unparalleled catastrophe.”

Einstein foresaw that such “unparalleled catastrophe” could be averted only from levels of consciousness beyond those which created it; thus he observed that “the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind.”

After much deep reflection, and with unspeakable faith in the Sacred Heart of all Humans – which is LOVE – I have today optimistically reposted the foregoing essay with my intuitive ‘utopian’ prophesy of Humankind’s transcendence of current cataclysmic threats to life on Earth.

Maybe I’m a crazy “cockeyed optimist”, but I still foresee the imminent onset of a new age of nonviolent democratic societies which will advance the highest good for all life on our precious planet; I’m still “stuck like a dope with a thing called hope, and I can’t get it out of my heart!”

Perhaps, we’ve been karmically destined to suffer extraordinary and unprecedented 2020 coronavirus “new reality” ‘hard times’. But our suffering can prove to be an ultimate evolutionary impetus triggering our ‘breakdown breakthrough’ to a new worldview transcending the outmoded and illusionary beliefs which created current crises.

So I optimistically pray that we shall join together – each from our unique intuitive perspective – to fearlessly follow our hearts and ‘contagiously’ bless all Life as LOVE.

Invocation

With quiet minds and open hearts
may we thereby honor
the ultimate spiritual essence
of everyone/everything/everywhere
thereby uplifting human consciousness
to transcend and resolve crises created by
outmoded and illusionary worldview beliefs.

And so shall it be!

Interdependence way

Interdependence Way, On Independence Day

On July 4, 1776, thirteen American colonies declared their independence from British rule, in an historic document inspired by Thomas Paine’s philosophy and written by Thomas Jefferson. The philosophy of their Declaration of Independence was that under “the laws of nature and of nature’s God” government is established by people to secure their life, liberty, and happiness, and is to be overthrown as illegitimate if it no longer does that.

The US founding fathers recognized, that governments and their chartered organizations do not exist by Divine right; they are established by people to serve people – not to exploit or oppress them – and they are illegitimate unless they serve human rights and happiness.

Since 1776, “the laws of nature and of nature’s God” still prevail, but the world has changed immensely: The thirteen North American colonies have become the richest most powerful nation in world history – an American empire much vaster than the British empire which it succeeded. Human population has grown meteorically, from approximately 800 million (with 2.5 million people inhabiting American colonies) to over 7.6 billion and growing rapidly.

Through amazing technological and scientific advances the world has become much smaller and most people have become part of an instantly interconnected and largely interdependent global community, sharing critical information in an unprecedented new age of world-wide ecologic, economic, political and social crises and opportunities.

We are now experiencing severe global crises caused by inequitable governmental laws and policies which do not serve human rights and happiness, and by powerful transnational corporations which unsustainably exploit our precious planet, while prioritizing profits over people and often evading equitable taxation.

Within the spirit of the 1776 Declaration of Independence such laws and policies are illegitimate and must democratically be ended through societal recognition of the oneness of humanity and universal responsibility to benefit all humankind and all life.

Thus, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said:

“In our world, we need a clear awareness of the interdependent nature of nations, of humans and animals .. Everything is of interdependent nature. .. [M]any problems, especially man-made problems, are due to lack of knowledge about this interdependent nature.”

“Today’s world requires us to accept the oneness of humanity. In the past, isolated communities could afford to think of one another as fundamentally separate. Some could even exist in total isolation. But nowadays, whatever happens in one region eventually affects many other areas. Within the context of our interdependence, self-interest clearly lies in considering the interest of others.

“I believe that to meet the challenge of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for his or her own self, family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind.”

As Americans commemorate their past political independence from tyrannical rule, it is appropriate that we deeply reflect on current planetary tyranny, crises, inequities, and opportunities, in light of the egalitarian principles which launched the US nation in 1776. Such reflection will reveal that in today’s small world, we can best promote our own lives, liberty, and happiness – individually and societally – by recognizing our “universal responsibility to work not just for our own self, family or nation, but for the benefit of all mankind.”

To that end, let us join with our wholehearted intentions and appropriate actions to end unsustainable exploitation of our precious planet and the iniquity of global inequity, in the spirit of the following global declaration of interdependence sponsored by We The World:

We, the people of planet Earth,
In recognition of the interconnectedness of all life
And the importance of the balance of nature,
Hereby acknowledge our interdependence
And affirm our dedication
To life-serving environmental stewardship,
The fulfillment of universal human needs worldwide,
Economic and social well-being,
And a culture of peace and nonviolence,
To insure a sustainable and harmonious world
For present and future generations.

“Interdependence Way, On Independence Day”

Dear Friends,

This is an extremely appropriate time for our deep reflection on our ideals and ideas of supposed independence, both societally and individually. And for serious concern about clearly imminent dangers of nuclear or ecologic catastrophe, and threatened loss of our inherent liberties arising from absolute ‘exceptionalism’ of the American empire, and its very violent and politically polarized actions. Such concern is especially necessary because of “new normal” worldwide coronavirus authoritarian restraints against our ordinary human activities and inherent rights and liberties – while the doomsday clock of the bulletin of atomic scientists is at two minutes to midnight.

We urgently need to realize that independence is impossible; that everyone/everything is interconnected and interdependent; so that no-one/nothing exists permanently or independently.

Mistakenly believing ourselves to be separate and independent mortal beings, we’ve ignorantly acted fearfully and selfishly – instead of lovingly and generously – and thereby we’ve created critical problems for all life on our precious planet, and unsustainable disharmony with Nature.

Thus, it has become urgently imperative that we embrace an interdependent worldview, as explained above, and in the following “Crossroads” documentary video.

We cannot change others. But we can change and replace our seriously mistaken beliefs of separate independence, with an interdependent worldview.

Thereby, we can and we shall revolutionarily and compassionately transform the world.

Another ‘Near Death’ Experience?

Introduction.

Nowadays, at age eighty seven, when commonly greeted by others with “Hello, how are you?”, almost always I spontaneously and enthusiastically respond: “Grateful to be alive! – Every day’s a bonus!”

I cannot recall when I began so exclaiming this attitude of gratitude. But mostly it has happened since six years ago, when (on June 29, 2014) I was suddenly run down by a taxicab and critically injured while crossing a busy San Francisco street.

Here is a memoirs story about that incident which I share hoping to inspire for others a similar attitude of gratitude, which has proven for me to be a great blessing. For

“It is not joy that makes us grateful;
it is gratitude that makes us joyful.”
~ Brother David Steindl-Rast

My First ‘Near Death’ Experience [NDE]*

In 1979 I experienced and have written a prior memoir about an extraordinary and unforgettable out of body event [OOB] which I called a ‘Near Death’ Experience’ [NDE]*. [See https://sillysutras.com/my-near-death-experience/ and *footnote about NDE’s.]

During that experience, I mistakenly believed that I had suffered a stroke and was dying. But I later was told (by my Guruji) that I had not experienced illness but a sudden infusion of Divine shakti energy. So it is unlikely that I suffered from diminished vital signs which are usually associated with NDE’s. Nonetheless, that extraordinary and unforgettable OOB event significantly advanced the spiritual transformation process which had begun with my 1976 realization and rebirth experience.

That transformation process has blessed me with ever increasing self-identification as eternal spirit rather than as mere mortal body/mind. Ultimately, it has led to my realization that Life is perpetual while physical birth and death are virtual; that what most humans call death is merely a vacation – eternal Life-force vacating an inevitably mortal physical vehicle.

This crucial realization has resulted in ever decreasing fear of death, and ever expanding openness, empathy, gratitude and happiness.

Still, I recognize that human bodies are extraordinarily precious life-forms, enabling us to develop and to lovingly advance spiritually. So the longer we are able to skillfully inhabit a functioning physical body, beyond fear of death or disability, the greater our opportunity to learn and to evolve.

Past as Prelude; Another NDE?

In my first NDE* narrative I told how I hadn’t feared presumed peaceful death by a supposed stroke; but, how soon thereafter I experienced an instinctively fearful ‘fight or flight’ reaction when almost run over while crossing a street. (I’ve come to believe that such normal instinctive protection of a precious mortal body is distinguishable from ego’s ever fearful separate self-identification with a body rather than with eternal universal awareness.)

Paradoxically, my 1979 ‘fight or flight’ fear of being run down as a pedestrian ultimately materialized thirty five years later when I was suddenly run down by a taxicab and critically injured while crossing a busy San Francisco street. Today at age eighty seven, I have miraculously survived and largely healed from that incident, after perhaps another ‘near death’ experience.

The shock and trauma of my injuries have left me with continuing retrograde amnesia, so I am unable to recall what happened immediately before and after the taxicab incident, and while I was comatose. Thus for such details I must rely on paramedic and hospital records, and on a cam video showing the taxi hitting me.

Accident Injuries.

The following bodily injuries and symptoms, among others, were radiologically and clinically diagnosed:

Traumatic bleeding brain contusion and concussion, with extended loss of consciousness; large 2” chronic subdural hematoma pushing brain .6” out of normal alignment; massive soft tissue tears and other traumatic shoulder injuries, temporarily rendering both shoulders largely non-functional, with prosthesis recommended for left shoulder; multiple facial fractures, bruises and swelling, with broken nose, fractured sinus areas, etc.; facial lacerations requiring sutures; lacerated and bleeding liver; cracked ribs; slight spinal fracture; excessive external bleeding, with anemia requiring prompt two unit blood transfusion; tibial plateau (“bumper”) fracture and extreme swelling of right knee and leg, with large knee wound, open and seeping for over two months; continuing post-traumatic stress syndrome [PTSD]; retrograde amnesia; mental confusion, headaches, dizziness, and dyslexia.

Considering my advanced octogenarian age and the multiplicity and severity of my injuries and symptoms, my survival, recovery and healing so far have been miraculous. Moreover, I have amazingly survived without any pain drugs or brain or shoulder surgical interventions recommended by various allopathic doctors, and have been able to resume a largely independent pre-injury life style with frequent (pre-lockdown) walks, after extended convalescence, and treatment with acupuncture, organic herbs, and physical therapy.

Guruji, Rama mantra, and hints of heavenly help.

Unlike some NDE* survivors I have no memory of what happened while I was comatose, or of any contact with heavenly beings or departed loved ones. However I gratefully intuit that my survival and healing are blessings from my Guruji, Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji, from Saint Francis of Assisi and other divine or celestial beings or emanations, and from prayers, acts of kindness and good wishes of many friends, health providers and others.

Previously I have explained the importance of the Rama mantra in my transformational process; how spontaneously I began reciting Rama before receiving shaktipat initiation by Guruji, who synchronistically gave me a Ram mantra. I believe that the power of my Ram mantra helped my miraculous survival and recovery.

Also I have told how recitation of the name Rama was the principle spiritual practice of Mahatma Gandhi – my first inner spiritual guide – who recited it from childhood until his assassination; how even as Gandhi fell to an assassin’s pistol fired point-blank into his heart, in forgiveness he uttered nothing but “Rama, Rama …” his last words from the eternal depths of his heart.

Referring to his repetition of “Rama” Gandhi said:

“that the Word is in my heart, if not actually on my lips, all the twenty-four hours. It has been my saviour and I am ever stayed on it.” “The mantram becomes one’s staff of life and carries one through every ordeal….” “Each repetition … has a new meaning, each repetition carries you nearer and nearer to God.”

During weeks before my taxi rundown incident, I noticed that I was constantly reciting my Ram mantra; and that it was in my heart when not on my lips. So, I may have been reciting the mantra when hit by the taxicab.

On my ambulance arrival at San Francisco General Hospital trauma center, according to hospital records, I was “pleasantly confused and repetitive”, and was ‘repeating phrases’. And more than one doctor noted my positive attitude despite critical injuries.

Intuitively I believe that my repetitive utterances were Ram mantra recitations which helped invoke the subtle presence and assistance of my Guruji, Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji.

Amongst my first hospital visitors were my long-time spiritual friends Carolyn and Monte, who are also Guruji devotees. Very soon after my admission to the ICU they synchronistically learned of my injuries, and immediately came to the hospital, where they were admitted after regular visiting hours.  On observing my completely bruised, discolored  and swollen head and face they became very concerned and did hands on healing, with repetitions of the Ram mantra.  Shortly after returning home, Carolyn prayed to Guruji for my health and recovery.  Whereupon Guruji responded telepathically that he was already helping me.

Similarly another spiritual friend, Michael, a long-time devotee of Guruji’s successor Shri Anandi Ma, reported to me his intuitive flash of insight that I could not and would not have survived the taxicab injuries but for Guruji’s intervention.

And soon after the accident I received an email assurance from my (now departed) friend Pravinji Jani, Anandi Ma’s father and Vedic pundit and astrologer, assuring me that “Guruji is always with you showering his blessings” for healing and for “return to your normal activities with inspiring sutras”.

These encouraging communications from Guruji devotees supported my intuitive insights of Guruji’s subtle presence and help.

Prayers, good wishes, and other acts of kindness and compassion.

The prayers and good wishes of family, friends, health care providers and many others who cared for and about me, and wanted me to get well, also helped my miraculous survival and healing. Many staff people at the hospital and rehab facility were kind and compassionate, and did their very best to help me.

I was especially touched when I awakened in the hospital ICU one morning to see taped on the wall this “get well” message:

It had been placed there by one of my loving nurses with whom I had discussed my “attitude of gratitude” for surviving the taxicab rundown and my love for Saint Francis of Assisi, whose peace prayer I’d recited for her. (Details of our “holy encounter” are posted at https://sillysutras.com/remembering-an-attitude-of-gratitude-a-holy-encounter-rons-memoirs/)

Other acts of loving-kindness and compassion by those attending me were too numerous for me to recall or recount. But they all helped me get well.

Prayers can be powerful, and have been integral to all enduring religious and spiritual traditions from time immemorial. Throughout recorded human history prayers have been offered by countless saints and sages, and by ordinary people of every religious or spiritual denomination.

Moreover, persuasive scientific evidence now confirms healing efficacy of prayer. So I am gratefully convinced that heartfelt prayers and good wishes of many people who cared about me helped my miraculous survival and healing.

Why was my life was endangered, and why have I miraculously survived?

I don’t know. Presumably this incident arose from mysterious karmic causes and conditions. And presumably I have survived because my predestined assignments for this lifetime have not yet been fulfilled.

Before the taxicab rundown, I already was happier, more grateful and less fearful than ever before. And I already had abiding faith in the Divine, which more than ever before enabled me to accept inevitable and inescapable life difficulties and uncertainties, and yet to live openly, spontaneously and authentically, without worry, fear or doubt. (See: I’ve Found A Faith-Based Life.)

But I’ve become even more grateful for this precious human lifetime, and for the opportunity to continue learning to live with ever expanding loving-kindness and compassion.

Now I feel that every day is a bonus; that every breath is a blessing. And I am convinced that I have been permitted to remain in this body only because I’ve not yet fully accomplished the purposes for which my soul incarnated; that the miraculous survival and healing have been Divine blessings bestowing an evolutionary opportunity for karmic ‘purification’ and enhanced incentive to spiritually make the most of what remains of this precious human life-time.

One of the greatest joys of living a long earth-life is that there is always something new to learn, and that through synchronicities we are led to ever new opportunities for learning to become more loving – our purpose here.
So I feel blessed to have been allowed to keep learning appropriate evolutionary lessons – and also to have been afforded an opportunity to continue honoring Guruji’s request that I write and publish spiritual memoirs so as to inspire others.

[**See footnote]

Moral of the story?

With an enduring ‘attitude of gratitude’, I share this story hoping to inspire our fearless faith in that Mysterious Power which eternally guides our lives
through inevitable and inescapable difficulties and uncertainties,
and which enables us to live gratefully with loving-kindness and compassion,
and without worry, fear or negative attachments.

And so shall it be!

Footnotes:

*NDE’s. The term ‘Near Death Experience’ [NDE] was coined in 1975 by Raymond A. Moody, Jr., PhD, MD, in his book Life After Life which sold over thirteen million copies worldwide. Since then numerous NDE accounts have been published and discussed in mainstream media, on the internet, in films and videos and in magazines and books – including NY Times best sellers. Many spiritually inspiring NDE stories have been published and researched by the International Association For Near-Death Studies [IANDS] and others. So NDE’s have become widely considered, especially by those who claim to have experienced them. And some leading-edge non-materialist scientists cite NDE’s as evidence that consciousness survives physical death. For millions of people NDE’s, and other extraordinary mystical experiences, have proven to be spiritually inspirational, and transformative events, diminishing or ending fear of death and encouraging a newly open, sensitive, trusting and loving lifestyle. (see e.g. Atlantic Monthly: The Science of Near-Death Experiences.)

**The Perennial Wisdom Foundation (PWF) plans to publish ebooks containing these memoirs and other on-line writings. Also, PWF has arranged to keep SillySutras.com on line for at least another ten years, whether or not I am able to continue writing.

Different Person, Different Path

No two people experience identical perceptions
or states of consciousness;

Each one’s awareness
is mediated and limited by a unique body/mind;

And each person’s consciousness state
is ever changing and unique.

Beyond each individuated body/mind, is
Unlimited Awareness – Cosmic Consciousness – Infinite Potentiality.

But, body/mind consciousness is
localized and limited, and uniquely experienced.

Purpose of body/mind
is transformation of human consciousness,
which is collectively and individually
created by our thoughts.

Since each body/mind is unique,
each person’s transformational path is also unique.

Different person, different path.

Ron’s Comments on “Different Person, Different Path”

Dear Friends,

The foregoing quotations and essay/poem concern perennial principles which can help us respect and accept all other humans as divine spiritual siblings, each following a unique ‘spiritual path’ to ultimate Self Realization of our common inner divinity. And to realize that we appear and reappear on the world’s ‘stage’ in differing ‘roles’ in an endless Divine play of consciousness, until we express and realize our true Self-identity as Eternal LOVE.

Unlike earthly paths, spiritual paths do not lead to space/time destinations, but to experiencing and transcending karmic causal limitations which are unique to each person.

As each human soul evolves, it repeatedly incarnates into a unique body/mind, to experience and to learn from the effects of its unique karmic causal history. (Like snowflake crystals, not even identical twins are exactly the same.)

Upon incarnation as human body/mind lifeforms, we experience instant amnesia about our true spiritual Self-identity. Whereupon, perceiving and believing ourselves to be separate from each other and Nature, we mistakenly identify, think and behave as separate entities, and thereby become subject to the universal law of cause and effect – karma.

Whereupon each soul becomes ‘encapsulated’ and ‘entangled’ in a self-woven “karmic cocoon” attributable to its unique behaviors – through which we inevitably experience personal and world sufferings.

Invocation.

May we transcend such sufferings,
as we learn to forgive and accept ourselves
and all other humans
as divine but fallible spiritual siblings;
as children of Eternal LOVE

And so may it be!

Ron’s 2017 Commentary on Mystical Faith.

Dear Friends,

In reviewing and revising previous SillySutras postings, I’ve been wondering about the subtle circumstances which have seemed most important in furthering my spiritual evolution from age forty two to age eighty four. And why, after four decades of spiritual exploration, I often experience the “real world’ mostly like a movie – a synchronistic simulated reality?

Forty two years ago, I was self-identifying as an uptight and unhappy middle-aged secular litigation lawyer on the brink of divorce, when I had an unforgettable “out of body” experience [OOB] which has sparked four decades of spiritual exploration and evolution – so far.

Now I mostly self-identify as eternal spirit enjoying a brief “in a body experience” as an 84 year old retired lawyer and spiritual writer. And I feel blessed with great happiness and gratitude for this precious fleeting lifetime, despite its inevitable ups and downs.

Perhaps my best explanation for being so blessed, is that I’ve enjoyed ever growing deep faith in the mystical mystery of Divinity. Previously, I have explained in essays how “I’ve Found A Faith-Based Life” and defined faith as distinguished from belief.

Today I have posted the foregoing profound quotations to help inspire our deep faith. Please read and reflect on them.

Also I’ve embedded below a beautiful youtube video performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s inspiring song “You’ll Never Walk Alone” as excerpted from the film version of their classical musical play “Carousel”. The emotions we feel from that performance can also help inspire our deep realization that with faith and hope in our heart we’ll never walk alone.

And so may it be!

2020 Epilogue: Predictions of a faith-based optimist.

Dear Friends,

I write today to share optimistic predictions that with faith we are destined to enjoy ever increasing happiness on our precious planet Earth.

Forty five years ago, after an unforgettable OOB experience, I deeply intuited that thought was the genesis of all phenomenal “reality”. Thereafter I gradually became persuaded by Einstein and experience that “space and time are not conditions in which we live, [but] modes in which we think”; and that our perceived space/time “reality” is “an optical illusion of consciousness.”

But, I have remained unspeakably grateful and devotional as a passenger on “Spaceship Earth”, awed by its amazing existence in space/time, and profoundly concerned about foolishly unsustainable human disruption of its miraculous ecology.

Thus for many years I’ve observed that survival of Earth-life as we have known it is being catastrophically threatened by a tiny group of autocratic mega-billionaires, who insanely control and exploit of our precious planet. Yet, from a deep faith-based perspective I’ve remained confident that we are ultimately destined to end nefarious psychopathic global rule of humankind. (See https://sillysutras.com/ive-found-a-faith-based-life/)

In 2020, since unconstitutionally ordered under house arrest, as an allegedly viral vulnerable elder, I’ve observed that recent extraordinary and shocking events are at long last awakening a critical mass of humankind to awareness which will end our autocratic oppression. So from my faith-based perspective, our current “new normal” pre-planned coronavirus crisis era of worldwide fear and panic presents a once-in-a-lifetime “tipping point” opportunity for humankind to co-create a new and wonderful world of happiness, harmony and health for everyone everywhere, rather than to degenerate into a locked-down dystopian/Orwellian “Big Brother” era of unprecedented and insidious global human control and enslavement by a few malignant psychopaths.

Thus, today I predict that WE THE PEOPLE, will soon democratically reclaim our freedoms and inalienable constitutional and human rights to overcome unjust and immoral control by a few globalist-autocrats, rather than succumbing to their insidious brainwashing techniques of instilling pervasive societal fears and instigating inter-societal polarized controversies. And as a faith-based optimist I foresee that we can transform the world by intuitively, faithfully and fearlessly following our hearts, not the brainwashed herd, and by non-violently refusing to cooperate with our treacherous governments, institutions and enterprises.

From my perspective, recent extraordinary events – especially the purported pre-planned coronavirus pandemic, and the shocking Memorial Day Minneapolis police murder of Afro-American George Floyd, followed by worldwide protests against racist police violence, are mere symptoms – not causes – of current catastrophes, which we will survive and surmount.

The root cause of all these “new normal” problems is our top-down political/economic system of undemocratic autocratic control over almost 8 billion humans by a tiny transnational group of obscenely rich mega-billionaires. Democracy and empire cannot coexist. So to end endless symptoms of insidious top-down global human control by a few malignant psychopaths, we must and shall replace empire with bottom-up democratic governments, institutions and enterprises emphasizing universal peace and justice, and people over profits.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968

Dr. King’s Prescient Predictions.

During the last year of his life, American civil rights hero and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered many forceful sermons and speeches decrying poverty, racism, the immoral Vietnam war, and economic injustice, and describing riots as the language of the unheard. His words then are proving to be presciently accurate as times have changed.

For example, he predicted that:

“The developed industrial nations of the world, – cannot remain secure islands of prosperity in a seething sea of poverty. A storm is rising against a privileged minority of the earth from which there is no shelter in isolation at armament. – – -The storm will not abate until a just distribution of the fruits of the earth enables man everywhere to live in dignity and human decency.”

In “other America” lectures Dr. King proposed redressing extreme economic inequity by reallocation of national spending priorities and suggested “a guaranteed minimum income for all people, and for our families of our country.”

Privately, Dr. King explicitly supported changing our current US capitalist economic-system. For example, he told family friend Harry Belafonte:

“Capitalism does not permit an even flow of economic resources. With this system, a small privileged few are rich beyond conscience, and almost all others are doomed to be poor at some level. That’s the way the system works. And since we know that the system will not change the rules, we are going to have to change the system.” ~ “My Song: A Memoir of Art, Race, and Defiance”, by Harry Belafonte & Michael Shnayerson, page 328

In his historic “Beyond Vietnam” speech Dr. King declared that

“A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.”

“Don’t let anybody make you think God chose America as His divine messianic force to be a sort of policeman of the whole world.”
“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” “The choice is not between violence and nonviolence but between nonviolence and nonexistence.”

In the 1960’s Dr. King’s assertions and predictions were considered controversial or ‘unpatriotic’ by many Americans. But in 2020 his eloquent descriptions of 1960’s America have become almost incontrovertible and obvious.

In 1967 the US had large and prosperous middle class, with few unemployed workers, in which one blue collar wage-earner could earn enough to buy a home and support a family with children, while accruing pension benefits permitting an economically secure retirement. The US prison population then included approximately 200,000 inmates. It is now over 2 million.

Since Dr. King’s martyrdom in April, 1968, most of the US middle class has been methodically demolished and impoverished by sustained governmental exploitation and inflation, benefiting only the richest Americans. The purchasing power of most US workers has barely increased, while their costs of essential food, shelter and health care have skyrocketed. So to stay economically afloat, most American households now need two wage earners, and have incurred burdensome lifelong debts for home mortgages, car loans, student loans, payday loans, etc

Meanwhile, an unconscionable wealth gap has arisen between rich and poor Americans. By 2017 just three US mega-billionaires – Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Jeff Bezos – collectively held more wealth than the bottom 50% of the entire population.

In 2020, since an over-hyped and fraudulent declaration of a coronavirus pandemic crisis, billions of working class people in the US and worldwide, have been illegally locked-down and prevented from engaging in normal economic, political and social activities, So they’ve been losing their supposedly “non-essential’ jobs and small businesses, and some are in imminent danger of becoming homeless and impoverished. Many Americans are already waiting in long food bank lines for necessary nourishment they previously earned for themselves.

Yet, while billions of working class people are thus suffering forced impoverishment and authoritarian police state deprivations of their inherent legal and constitutional human rights and liberties, the combined wealth of US billionaires, including Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg, jumped by half a trillion dollars since the onset of the purported COVID-19 pandemic And Gates wants to keep the world locked down until we are all forcibly injected with one of his purported vaccines.

Current worldwide problems and protests are awakening a worldwide “coalition of conscience”.

Because normal activities of billions of people worldwide are now disrupted by immoral coronavirus edicts, causing immense needless fears and sufferings, many people are, at long last, realizing how they are victims of delusional human behaviors which unjustly benefit only mega-rich people and their acolytes. And they are becoming determined to resist and replace those very few people who are malignantly threatening not just human lives, but all Earth-life as we have known it.

Concluding predictions of a faith-based optimist.

With unwavering Gandhian faith that the way of truth and love always prevails, I confidently predict that we are destined to end current psychopathic global rule of humankind. And that a “tipping point” critical mass of humankind will soon end our catastrophic oppression by fearlessly and nonviolently resisting and refusing to follow immoral autocratic edicts which unjustly restrict our innate and constitutional human rights and freedoms.

Thus, humankind are destined to co-create a new and wonderful world of happiness, harmony and health for everyone everywhere, rather than degenerate into a locked-down dystopian/Orwellian “Big Brother” era of unprecedented and insidious global human control and enslavement by a few malignant psychopaths.

Invocation.

May WE THE PEOPLE transform the world
by faithfully and fearlessly following our hearts
to a destined new reality
of abiding peace, justice and goodwill
for all life everywhere.

May everyone everywhere be happy!

And so it shall be!
